Welcome to the World Traveller's Blog
For the remainder of this course, you will be required to create and update a traveller's blog that will educate the rest of the class on the country you have chosen. This assignment is coupled with the "Passport to the World" project, which comprises 15% of your final mark (this blog comprising 7% of the total), which is why it is vital that you keep it up. For this assignment, you must choose a country that is of interest to you and that you wish to learn more about. This is an excellent way to educate yourself as well as your classmates (and me!) about different areas of the world and the cultures they contribute.
Criteria:
1. Choose a country that is of interest to you. Sign up with me to ensure countries are not repeated.
2. Every week you must post a 100 word description of your research from the week (whichever topic you choose from the list below). Remember you do not have to complete these topics in the order given. Mix it up!
- Geographic Location & Population
- Flag
- Tourist Attractions
- Climate
- Culture
- History
- Economy
- Current Events/Issues
3. Every week you must post links of the websites used to gather your research from that week's blog post.
4. Every week you must choose TWO of your classmate's blogs and write a 50 word comment connecting their country to yours. You are required to comment on everyone's blog at least once and remember to use proper vocabulary.
5. All information you provide MUST be appropriate and relevant!
Steps to Creating a Blog:
1. Go to Blogger.com
2. Login by entering your @gmail.com email address
- if you do not have a gmail account, create one for this assignment
3. Enter in the necessary information; when it asks you to create a web address for your blog, enter your name then umei (.blogspot.com will automatically be entered).
- i.e. alecumei.blogspot.com
4. Choose the colour scheme or theme for your blog
5. Click the orange button with the pen on it to create a post. This is what you will do every week to post on your own blog as well as comment on others' blogs. Within this window you are able to link the websites to the post using the "Link" button located on the toolbar.
6. All of you are required to "follow" or become a member of everyone else's blog
- Do this by going to their blog and clicking "become a member" or "join page"
- This will allow you to comment on their blogs each week.
